Workface Solutions tailored the database to suit the Singapore Gold Consortium’s requirements and travelled out to Singapore to install it and train the Bid Team. The database was run from the Architect’s Office (HOK Sports Architecture) in Brisbane; the M&E consultants (CPG/SKM) in Singapore and by John Laing at their London Office, from where the database was managed.

Dorset Emergency Services Partnership Initiative (DESPI)
“Workface Solutions’ Room Data Sheet database was an indispensable tool that enabled our client to be sure that their Fixtures, Fittings and Equipment requirements were accurately interpreted and was of significant use throughout negotiations for Financial Close.”
Paul Gale, Area Director, Morgan Ashurst
DESPI comprises a PFI scheme for the provision of two new fire stations in Marshes End, Poole and Poundbury, Dorchester, and a new joint police divisional and fire area headquarters in Poole. In addition, a second fire headquarters building will be provided adjacent to the new fire station at Poundbury.
Workface Solutions were employed exclusively by Morgan Ashurst (formerly Bluestone) to set up a comprehensive Room Data Sheet database application for the project.
Our first task was to translate the detail contained in the existing and varied independent XL spreadsheets being used at the time by:
- The Architect, Calder Peel Carden Croft for Schedule of Accommodation and finishes.
- Gifford for the M&E technical and environmental requirement matrix.
- The Dorset Police and Fire Service detailing their equipment and furniture requirements.
Once the information was imported and its accuracy proved, Workface Solutions provided a database support service for Morgan Ashurst over several months as they managed the evolving design leading upto the Financial Close.

Cleveland Police Authority PFI (£57m)
We were called in by Laing O’Rourke to initially convert an existing Room Data Sheet database that lacked the ability to itemise and quantify into one that included this essential requirement.
Our work was then extended to use a format similar to that used on previous projects and carrying out training in the use of the database of the four parties.
- Mcbains Cooper - Room Specification and Finishes
- Mcbains Cooper - Building Services
- Laing O’Rourke - Fixtures and Fittings
- Cleveland Police Authority - Equipment
We were then employed to manage the four databases during the final negotiations immediately prior to financial close. |
